Pasco brush fire burns right next to a neighborhood
PASCO, Wash;-- A brush fire in Pasco today burned almost an acre of grassland, right in the middle of a neighborhood.
Pasco firefighters were able to control the fire before it reached any of the houses near the 500 block of Cedar Avenue. It took firefighters only about a half an hour to control the small fire.
But Captain Dave Hare says even though this fire was small, it acts as a warning to the start of a late fire season.
"This is the first of what is to come. And as the temperatures start to increase during the summer we'd like our residents to be more aware of fire danger, it's increasing on a daily basis. They need to be more aware of heat related injuries."
Nobody was injured and no houses were damaged. Firefighters still don't know how the fire started.
