'Hands Across the Sand' Oil Spill Protest in Richland
A movement that started in Florida after the massive oil spill has now reached the Tri-Cities.
It's a movement called 'Hands Across the Sand' and the idea is for people all across the nation to hold hands for 15 minutes today to form human chains.
Organizers say it's a symbolic barrier to bring awareness about coastline oil spills and the damage they have on the environment.
"My goal today is to bring it to the politicians and say figure this out," Sandra Rosenau said. "Make a good policy that industry can get behind and that supports the economy in a healthy way. I think if they do that the people would stand behind it because no body wants this."
The people at today's protest also made pledges to take personal steps to conserve energy.
