Planes from all over the area landed at the Richland Airport for a special aviation day tailored to kids.
Hundreds of children, ages 8 to 17, flew around the Tri-Cities for free to learn what it takes to become a pilot.
One organizer says it's important for the next generation to learn about aviation and how it affects people's lives
"Aviation is an opportunity and we want to show kids that," Clif Dyer said. "It doesn't take special anything, just the love of aviation."
There were also antique and experimental planes on displays for families to look at throughout the day.
