New regulations for tattoo and piercing parlors

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.- All tattoo and piercing businesses need a state license by Thursday, July 1st.

Right now, body art, body piercing and tattooing are not regulated in Washington.  This means body art businesses have no laws to abide by, leaving customers at risk for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and infection.

With the new law, tattoo and piercing businesses will need to pay to take a course to receive a license.  The license will hold businesses accountable for sanitizing tools, performing safely and keeping you safe.

Every two years shops will be inspected for a license and following regulations.
