YAKIMA, Wash. – The Yakima School District announced this week its looking for school board president candidates when that position becomes vacant next month.
Vickie Ybarra, the current school board president, has accepted a doctoral fellowship with the University of New Mexico. Her resignation is effective July 27. She has served on the board since 2002.
YSD says qualified applicants must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Washington state. They must be a registered voter in the school district as well as someone who lives within the boundaries of the district.
Applications are available at Central Services on 104 N. 4th Ave. in Yakima. You can also request one by calling 573-7001.
The deadline for all applications is Friday, July 16 at 4:30 p.m.
