Nachbaur Could Be Named as Chiefs New Head Coach

Posted: Updated:

Spokane, wash. -- The Spokane Chiefs said Tuesday they are ready to announce who will be the team's new head coach going into the 2010-11 season.

A source within the Chiefs' organization declined to say who the coach would be, but a news conference is scheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m. to make the announcement official. Speculation has been the new coach would be former Tri-City Americans coach Don Nachbaur. But Chiefs General Manager Tim Speltz denied that report to the Spokesman-Review last week.

Nachbaur recently resigned from the AHL's Binghamton Senators, an affiliate of the NHL's Ottawa Senators. He spent one season there after leaving Tri-City.

Nachbaur spent five seasons with the Americans, including winning the U.S. Division title his last 2 seasons.
