MADISON, Ind. - The U-57 Formulaboats.com crew is busy preparing the newest roster addition to this weekend's season opening Unlimited hydroplane race in the Madison pits, and driver Jimmy Shane is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
Unlimited hydroplane owner Ted Porter, whose Precision Performance team campaigns the U-5 and U-7, has a third hull in Madison for this weekend's season opening race. The field competing for the Lucas Oil Indiana Governor's Cup now stands at 13 boats.
The U-57 Formulaboats.com is the former USA Racing Partners (U-10) backup boat. The last time it raced was in the Tri-Cities and Seattle in 2008. Shane drove the Unlimited as a sub for Porter's then-U-7 driver Mike Allen, who had been injured (and his primary hull damaged), during the Detroit Gold Cup race earlier in the season. The U-57 will join the U-5 Formulaboats.com driven by Jeff Bernard and the U-7 Graham Trucking driven by J Michael Kelly.
