Steve David driver of the National Champion U-1 Oh Boy! Oberto led all qualifiers Friday at the 60th annual Indiana Governor's Cup.  David and the hometown team pleased the crowd when he posted at top speed of 154.575 mph.

"The team did a great job rebuilding the boat after our 360 degree flip in November at the Oryx Cup in Dona (Qatar).  It felt like an old pair of jeans when I got into the cockpit.  This is a great beginning for us and a great way to begin the season."

"I am so happy for the fans and citizens owners of the boat.  It is our goal to perform well in front of all these people," David said.

David was followed closely by Dave Villwock in the newly named U-96 Spirit of Qatar with a top speed of 153.152 mph.  Third fastest was the U-7 Graham Trucking's J. Michael Kelly.

Qualifying race heats begin on Saturday with the winner-take-all final scheduled for Sunday.
