KENNEWICK, Wash. - After months of going door to door the U.S. Census Bureau is on to the next phase.
Census workers says there's still a lot that has to be done. But overall, the state of Washington had a great return rate. In fact, it was one of the highest in the nation at 74%. Here locally, we also had a 74% return rate and just finished up the door to door operations.
Senior Partnership Specialist from the local census office, Noemi Ortega says the door to door operation was a success. She says the next step is quality control. This step insures that all the data is correct.
"It's a way of assuring that the data we collected is accurate and it is complete and is including every household. We also double check that all the homes we haven't received forms from are in reality vacant homes," said Ortega.
Ortega says they plan on closing all local centers by September. She expects the results to be ready by March of next year.
