10th anniversary of Hanford Reach National Monument
RICHLAND, Wash.- Senator Patty Murray celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Hanford Reach National Monument.
The Hanford Reach was signed a monument by the Clinton Administration ten years ago. The area and the wildlife are now permanently protected.
The preservation of this area is important to the community and Senator Patty Murray.
"My own heritage is here. My grandfather came to this region back in the early 1900's and my dad grew up here. It's a place where often as an elected official you don't have anywhere you can really give back, this is where I could give back." –Senator Patty Murray
Senator Murray played a key role in signing this area a national monument. With her and the community's thousands of hours of work they have achieved their objective. Now the goal is to keep the Hanford Reach National Monument exactly the same for future generations.
