Sunnyside Man dies after drive-by shooting Saturday night
SUNNYSIDE, Wash.- An 18-year-old Sunnyside man is dead after a drive-by shooting Saturday night.
Detectives say the shooting happened on the 1600 block of Saul Road in Sunnyside. There are several X's on the front door, the porch and around the house marking where the bullets hit.
Family members didn't want to go on camera but told a KNDO reporter that the 18-year-old victim is not in a gang and does not have any associations to one. Family member say an S-U-V drove by while a few people walked by and started shooting at the house.
Neighbors say they heard the gunshots and are alarmed the homicide happened in that area.
"It's pretty close knit in this corner of Sunnyside and the whole neighborhood has been talking about what we can do to see if we can help police stem this because its just not safe," said Mike Heitstuman.
Neighbors say there was a shooting at this same house during a fourth of July barbeque. The homeowner believes they may be targeting another family member who has a connection to gangs.
Sunnyside Detectives say they are working on the investigation and would like anyone with information on the shooters to call the Sunnyside Police Department.
