Engineering scholarships available for YVCC students

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima Valley Community College is now accepting applications for National Science Foundation scholarships.

NSF scholarships are funded by Washington State University for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Target students: Those who are pursuing Bachelor of Science degrees in computer science, electrical and mechanical engineering with intentions to transfer to WSU. High school students planning to attend YVCC through the Yakima Valley/Tri-Cities Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) program and intend to transfer to WSU. The deadline to submit is August 14.

Eligibility Requirements:
· Must be a US citizen, permanent resident, or refugee alien at the time of application;
· Be enrolled at YVCC as a full-time student;
· Demonstrate academic potential as evident through academic achievement, previous work and life experiences, and letters of references; and
· Demonstrate financial need as defined by the US Department of Education rules for financial aid.
