La Clinica in Pasco adding missing piece after nearly 30 years
It's one of the biggest Community Health Centers in the Tri-Cities and workers at La Clinica in Pasco say for the past 30 years it has been missing one crucial thing, a pharmacy.
Several hundred people walk through the La Clinica doors everyday. Those who receive prescriptions have to go to places like Walgreens or Rite Aid but that will soon change as the health center takes another step in becoming a complete one-stop-shop.
"I think the community needs it," Chief Operating Officer Diann Kummer said. "As you know Pasco has grown 83% in the last 10 years, so we have more and more patients that need our services. We do serve the undeserved, but we serve everybody."
As soon as next month every patient who goes to La Clinica will have an in-house pharmacy at their fingertips thanks to federal grant money that's making it happen.
"To see this grow from it's very humble origins is something I'm very proud to be a part of," La Clinica board member Ron Weed said.
Leaders say they are also working on putting up a 3 story dental and support services branch down the street.
