Less than a week left to register to vote in WA State primary

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.--  You have less than a week to register if you want to vote in the primary election in Washington State.

The deadline to register or change your address online or in the mail is Monday, July 19th.  If you just moved to Washington, you have until August 9th to register.

The Secretary of State's office and county auditors are urging people to register online.  It's been an option in the state for a few years, but now they're trying to make a big web push.  Brenda Chilton, Benton County Auditor, says, "It's such a convenient way of doing it.  It also is a more streamlined way of doing it.  It goes directly into our voter registration system, as soon as it's been reviewed by auditor staff.  So, it just makes it very convenient both for the voter and for the elections office."  If you want to register online, click here.

The primary election is August 17th.
