WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) on Wednesday announced more than $300 million for Washington state military installations.
The bill passed by the Senate Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee, which Murray sits on, included $314.5 million to fund Washington state military facilities.
- Bangor $56.8 million - Fort Lewis $180.6 million - Tacoma $25 million - Bremerton $19.1 million - Yakima $17.5 million - McChord $10.4 million - Fairchild $4.8 million.
The funding will be used to make improvements to installations that facilitate training and care for service members and their families. The funding is also expected to create family-wage construction jobs in communities throughout the state.
"Investing in our state's military installations is not only an investment in our nation's defense, but also in the economic well-being of our communities and the training of our service members," said Senator Murray in a statement.
Next, the bill will be voted by the full Appropriations Committee. Afterwards, it will be voted by the Senate.
