YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Yakima Fire Department will soon be featured on a national TV series. The show will air on the Sportsman Channel.

It started as a friendly bet one of our Yakima Firefighters also works as a producer for a hunting show. He was teased by a friend about how easy it is to be a firefighter. So he gave him the challenge of stepping up and walking in his gear for a day.

Lieutenant Alex Langbell says, "it's showing a guy who's giving another guy a hard time about doing his job, he's actually called out and asked to perform."

Langbell moonlights as a producer for a hunting show called "The Fowl Life".

After heckling Langbell for years, Chad Belding, the shows host, tries his hand at firefighting. The two-part show was filmed at the Yakima Fire Training Center. It will give viewers an inside look at what it's like to be a firefighter.

"In North America it's in 4 million homes, the show is. I think we gave a lot of insight to what the firefighters, we, do for a living...our profession."

The show will air this Saturday on the Sportsman Channel at 6:30 AM and again on Sunday at 12:30 AM. The second part will air July 24th at 6:30 AM and July 25th at 12:30 AM.
