Emeralds Take Down Tri-City, 3-1Posted: Updated:
EUGENE, Ore. -The Eugene Emeralds beat the Tri-City Dust Devils again Wednesday night 3-1, prompting a season-high four-game winning streak.
Ems short stop Chris Tremblay had another great night at PK Park, going 2-4 with two RBI both with two outs and one strikeout. He's now batting a team-leading .375 average.
Tremblay wasn't the only Em with a two-hit night, catcher Rocky Gale also went 2-4 with one RBI. Gale is now hitting .311.
However, the Ems offense wasn't the only talking point, starting right-handed pitcher Keyvius Sampson when five full innings with out giving up a hit and striking out four. However, he did allow one run and walked four. He was awarded the win and now stands at 3-0 on the season with a 1.86 ERA.
The bullpen was able to stave off the Dust Devils offense for the rest of the game, holding them to that single run. The Ems went through three additional pitchers besides Sampson and still only recorded two hits on the night. Despite allowing the second Dust Devils hit on the game, Aaron Everett recorded his second save of the season. He's the first Em to record multiple saves in 2010.
Call Me Mr. Clutch: It's interesting to note, all seven Ems runs of this series have occurred with two outs. Four of those seven runs are credited to the RBI of Chris Tremblay.
