KENNEWICK, Wash. - If you got a ticket for using your cell phone while driving it could turn into a warning.
The Department of Licensing said that a glitch in the system could make about 3,000 tickets invalid. They include cell phone law violations until July 1 and some off-road vehicular violations.
It's all because the rule book used by many city Police Departments hasn't been updated since 2004 to include newly updated laws. That rule book is called the Model Traffic Ordinance.
The issue does not affect citations issued by state patrol or sheriff's deputies because they use a different rule book.
If you believe you may be eligible for a refund of a fine paid for a cell phone or other citation you received, contact the court that it was issued out of.
