Cowiche Fire leads to $9 million drug bust

Posted: Updated:

Yakima, WASH--More new developments from the Cowiche Canyon Fire.  This one led to a huge drug bust.

Firefighters were at a home on Carvo Road Sunday Night evacuating the area when they noticed something wasn't quite right. This is according to the head of the L.E.A.D. Task Force, a multi-agency drug enforcement team.  He told KNDO that last night at around 7 they responded to the home. They found an indoor pot growing operation.  He described the plants as very large; one and a half to 2 pounds each.  There were about 2-thousand of them, worth round $9 million dollars total.  Agents removed the plants from the house.

The head of the task force said when agents entered the house it was vacant.  No suspects are in custody.
