WASHINGTON - Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) announced Tuesday, the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee approved more than $16 million for the Yakima River Basin Water Enhancement project.
A total of $16,395,000 has been included in the Fiscal Year 2011 Energy and Water Development Appropriations Bill.
The funding will help the Bureau of Reclamation continue their water conservation project with the Sunnyside Valley Irrigation District.
"This investment will also ensure economic opportunities for the region's farmers and fishermen who depend on a reliable water supply," said Senator Murray in a statement.
The bill will head to full Appropriations Subcommittee before going to the Senate for vote.
