YAKIMA, Wash. -- The former Superintendent of Ahtanum View Corrections Center in Yakima will be getting a new job.

Leaders with the Department of Corrections announced Monday, Jane Parnell will be the superintendent at Washington Corrections Center for Women near Gig Harbor.

Parnell is currently the superintendent of Cedar Creek Corrections Center in Littlerock. She left Ahtanum View prior to its closure in March.

"Jane provided leadership at a time when it was desperately needed at Ahtanum View," said Prisons Director Dick Morgan. "And her expertise in managing confined women makes her an outstanding choice."

Parnell replaces Doug Cole who will become superintendent at Cedar Creek.

The Department reduced 1,056 prison beds this year due to a reduced number of offender population and projected decline of incoming offenders in the future.
