Sunnyside City Council selects new city manager

SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- The Sunnyside City Council announced Monday evening that they unanimously selected Mark Gervasi as the next city manager.

Gervasi was among four finalists interviewed by the City Council on July 23.

The other finalists were Garold "Jerry" Gillham, Martha "Marty" Wine and Byron Olson.

According to Mayor Jim Restucci, a Letter of Offer was provided to Gervasi and he has tentatively accepted the offer. A detailed employment agreement will now be negotiated between the city and Gervasi.

Mayor Restucci, council member Pablo Garcia and the city's attorney were selected by the city council to represent the city in the negotiations.

Mayor Restucci said the letter offered Gervasi, a $98,000 annual salary, medical, optical and dental retirement system, also, a four month severance package, relocation expenses and an auto allowance.

Gervasi is currently the City Manager for the City of Tillamook, Oregon.
