Pasco, WA- A high profile murder trial is moving out of the Tri-Cities. A Franklin County judge today granted defense attorneys a change of venue in the case of Vicente Ruiz, accused of gunning down five men in a Pasco auto body shop 23 years ago.
Judge Cameron Mitchell conceded media coverage will make it increasingly difficult to find jurors who haven't heard about the case.
Mitchell declared a second mistrial last month after ruling prosecutors failed to turn over materials to the defense team that could be considered potential evidence.
No decision has been made on when or where the third trial will take place. Prosecutors will now call other counties throughout the state to find an available courtroom.
