Immigration Debate reaches the Tri-Cities

Posted: Updated:

With immigration protests driving a divide in our country, a similar divide has now reached the Tri-Cities.

Today Pasco immigration lawyer Tom Roach faced off with Kennewick City Councilman Bob Parks on immigration reform.

Roach talked about on why immigrants are an important part of America.

"They're probably mowing your lawns, they're milking your cows that produce the milk we drink. The food that you're eating, they're the ones picking and packing that food and Americans refuse to do that kind of work," Roach said.

When the pendulum swings to Parks, his support runs down a different Avenue.

"People want to make it a racial issue I think. The gentlemen Roach described shouldn't be deported, but the man that was deported and came back 23 days later and killed his girlfriend in Pasco... There's something wrong with the system," Parks said.

After about an hour of debate, both developed a general consensus. This will not be the last discussion surrounding the hot topic of immigration effecting millions across the country.
