Kennewick City Manager Bob Hammond announces plans to resign

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash – City Manager Bob Hammond announced his plans to resign with the city of Kennewick.  The resignation would be affective September 1st, and the official announcement will be made Thursday at Special City Council Meeting with Mayor Steve Young.

Hammond has worked as Kennewick's city manager for 7 years and in public service for 27 years.  He says he plans to leave public service all together.  "Public service is a noble profession and in a leadership position, taxpayers deserve the very best from us every hour of every day.  That can take a heavy toll on personal and family health and I wish to now move on to other career challenges while balancing my family's needs," says Hammond.  There is no word of a replacement.
