Yakima City Council Vetoes Low Rider Cruise Date Change
YAKIMA, WASH-- Yakima city council members voted Tuesday not to give special treatment for a low-rider cruise permit. The Lowcos car club had gotten approval for a cruise through the city on September 4th. However the club wanted to move the date up to August 28, not leaving enough time for the required 30-day comment period. Council members Dave Edler, Dave Ettl, and Maureen Adkinson voted to use an emergency clause to allow the date change. However mayor Micah Cawley, and council members Cathy Coffey, Rick Ensey, and Bill Lover said using an emergency ordinance to justify a cruise permit was inappropriate.
