MOXEE, WASH-- Hundreds of people descended on the East Valley Saturday for the Moxee Hop Festival.
The annual event had contests, cars and tractor displays, and of course a beer garden. There was also a country music competition. The winner goes on to compete in Nashville. The festival began 63 years ago as a celebration of the hop harvest. And that's how some locals still think of it.
A lot of kids growing up would come out of the fields, this is what we did, this was our livelihood, the hops, apples, the farming community, says LeeAnn Mulhair of the East Valley Community Enhancement Association.
