Steve David and the U-1 Oh Boy! Oberto raced to a Heat 1A win and picked up a valuable 400 points in the H1 Unlimited national high points race at the Albert Lee Cup at Seafair in Seattle. David's 138.095 mph average lap speed was 2nd fastest for the day in the field on the two-mile course just behind the U-96 Spirit of Qatar and Dave Villwock.
David and the Oh Boy! Oberto are looking to wrap up their 3rd straight high points title. David went into today's preliminary heat racing as the 2nd top qualifier after picking up some much-needed speed in the 3rd qualifying session with a speed of 151.330 mph. "I know when we're focused we got the best race team out here," said David. "Our team realized that and we came out with the heat win. In Heat 1B, the U-96 Spirit of Qatar and Dave Villwock took the victory. But, the U-1 Oh Boy! Oberto still maintains a 350-point lead in the National High Points race. "We have got a great rough water boat and it handled well," said David. "We got a great race boat heading into tomorrow." Racing for the winner-take-all Albert Lee Cup final is scheduled for 4:40 pm on Sunday.
