Attorneys picking jury for child sexual abuse trial

Posted: Updated:

Kennewick, WA- Attorneys have started interviewing potential jurors for the trial of Benton City man accused of child molestation.

Robert Trainor works at Hanford and is a volunteer captain for Benton County Fire District One.

Prosecutors say he sexually abused five young girls over a seven-year period.

From the jury pool of 60 people, about 20 say they either have been a victim or known someone who has been a victim of sexual assault.

Typically, those potential jurors are excused from sexual assault cases out of concern they may not be able to be impartial.

Trainor has posted a $50,000 dollar bond.

Attorneys say they expect the trial will last about a week.
