Men accused in Chiawana Park shooting all plead not guilty
PASCO, Wash.-- All eight men accused of being involved in the recent shooting in Chiawana Park pleaded not guilty Tuesday.
Charges against the eight defendants, ages 17 to 20, include assault, rioting, reckless endangerment, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Also, gang and firearm enhancements will be added to some charges. Pasco police say a group of men, believed to have gang ties, got into a fight with another group at the park last weekend.
The Franklin County Prosecutor, Steve Lowe, says there are two sets of twins involved in the case. On Tuesday, he reduced charges against one twin, Ubaldo Reyes, saying new evidence clears him of some accusations. Other men involved in the case are David Reyes, George Bernal, Jose Contreras-Gomez, Hector Farias, Victor Farias, Lorenzo Ricardo Fernandez, and Carlos Saldeco-Valdivia, according to documents from Lowe. The trials are scheduled for late September, early October.
