Public hearing on proposed solar projectPosted: Updated:
CLE ELUM, Wash. -- A public hearing on the proposed Teanaway Solar Reserve project is scheduled for Wednesday night at the Kittitas County Fair Fairgrounds.
Supporters for the proposed Teanaway Solar Reserve project are also planning to hold a rally, as members of the Kittitas County Board of Adjustments consider an appeal filed against the environmental review of the project.
Only July 15, Kittitas County's Community Development Services issued the environmental permit for the project. Two people who live adjacent to the site of the proposed project submitted appeals to the county regarding the SEPA review.
The five-member Board of Adjustments will address that appeal and make a ruling on TSR's Conditional Use Permit application at the public hearing.
Supporters for TSR say the project if approved, would promote renewable green industry and create more jobs for Kittitas County.
The public meeting is at 6 p.m. in the Teanaway Room at the Kittitas Fairgrounds in Ellensburg.
Line up for Wednesday's rally:
4:30 p.m. - Buses will depart from Cle Elum Dairy Queen
5:00 p.m. - Supporters will meet at University Way and Chestnut in Ellensburg and walk to the County Fairgrounds
5:15pm - Howard Trott, Managing Director of TRS, Craig Davis, COO of Potelco Inc., and Charles Glondo, Mayor of Cle Elum will address rally participants.
6:00 p.m. - Board of Adjustment meets in Teanaway Hall to consider the SEPA appeal and address TSR's Conditional Use Permit application.
