Renewable energy kiosk; the newest creation at Franklin PUD
It's a rolling educational display, and it's one of the newest creations developed at Franklin PUD.
Energy specialists say it's called 'TREK' which stands for traveling renewable energy kiosk trailer. They tell they use it to educate the community on the benefits and challenges of renewable energy.
"We're going to wear it out before we finish it because it really is a test bed to test all different types of new technology and alternative energy," Energy specialist Todd Blackman said. "So you're probably looking at the only RV that I know that has a ductless heat pump."
The RV was designed and built by the PUD Energy Service Team to show how alternative energy components can be used in a typical home.
