YAKIMA, Wash--A registered sex offender tried to strike again Saturday according to a report from the Yakima Sheriff's Office.

It happened on the 16700 block of Yakima Valley Highway.  Deputies say the 60-year-old  sex offender tried to lure a 10-year-old girl into his house.  When she ran away he chased after her. According to deputies, neighbors have complained of his lewd behavior before but never reported it to police.

"We just want people to be aware that these kinds of things still happen and to be alert, talk to their children, just to understand as well the more we stay on our toes the better off we'll all be", said Sergeant Mike Russell.

Bill Wells was arrested on charges of luring and misdemeanor drug possession.  The level three offender was convicted in 2003 of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.
