YAKIMA  COUNTY - The cause of death has been determined for a 60-year-old hiker from Oregon, whose body was recovered on Mount Adams over the weekend.

Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins told KNDO Lynn Abernathy bled to death from injuries sustained from the fall.

Deputies said Abernathy was hiking with his son when he slipped and fell last Tuesday. They say the man's son spent the night with his dead father before hiking out to call for help.

Also assisting the Yakima Sheriff's Office Rescue's Central Washington Mountain Rescue unit, were Olympia Mountain Rescue, rangers from the Mount Adams Ranger District and Hood River Craig Cats.
