Sex offender bail set at $100k

GRANGER, Wash. -- A level three-sex offender is back behind bars this evening after allegedly trying to lure a 10 year-old girl.  Bill Wells had his first appearance in court just a few hours ago on charges of luring and marijuana possession.

The judge set his bail at $100,000 and ordered him not to have contact with anyone under 18.  The s60-year-old was arrested yesterday after a 10-year-old girl claimed he tried to lure her into his home and chased after when she ran away.  His neighbors on the 16700 Yakima Valley Highway say there has been other lewd behavior that they did not report.

There is not much you can do to keep a sex offender from moving into your community, wells lived just steps from a house where children lived, but deputies say reporting inappropriate behavior could prevent future offenses.

As for Bill Wells, there's no indication of whether or not he'll post bail, but his next court appearance is October 4.
