3 year old diagnosed with Leukemia meets the Disney Princesses
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A family's life drastically changed after their only daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia at the young age of three. With the help of the Make A Wish Foundation, they remembered what it is like to be a family again.
Elizabeth Hensley was diagnosed with Leukemia over a year ago. "When they told me that she had Leukemia, as I turned around to look at my husband my eyes filled with tears," says Rebecca Hensley, Elizabeth's mother.
After more than a year of going in and out of doctor's offices, all three year old Elizabeth wanted was to meet the Disney Princesses.
The Make A Wish Foundation made her wish come true this past week and sent her to Disney World.
"I watch Ariel, one of the Ariel movies, at least once a day, so it's what she wanted. She wanted to see the princesses," said Rebecca.
Elizabeth, along with her parents, met most of the Disney Princesses. Rebecca said it was a wish come true and that it gave her peace of mind, because for the first time in a while, she didn't have to worry about doctor appointments or go to the hospital.
The carriage has turned back into a pumpkin, as the story goes, but the Hensley family still has memories of the land where dreams become reality. Rebecca said it gave them time to be a family.
Now their plan is to unpack the tons of stuffed animals Elizabeth got while on the trip. She even got one for her baby brother.
