Richland engineer sentenced for receiving child pornography
A 56 year old Richland man will spend 5 years in prison for receiving child pornography over the internet, and will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Franklin Mendoza Corpuz, an engineer living in Richland, was charged in February 2010 by grand jury indictment for receiving child pornography. He plead guilty to the charge in June.
Years ago, an investigation revealed Corpuz was one of many customers paying for access to commercial child pornography websites. The Immigrations and Customs Enforcement obtained a search warrant into Corpuz' home in 2008. They found numerous external electronic storage devices containing over 10 thousand files of videos and images of child pornography. Those images were downloaded between Nov. 2006 and Jan 2008. Some of the images were of children under 12 years old.
Corpuz was sentenced to 60 months in prison, followed by a 10 year term of court supervision after he is released from prison. He was also ordered to pay $3,000 to one of the known victims depicted in the pornography for future mental health treatment.
