Secretary of State Sam Reed is touring Washington to remind voters of the importance of registering for the upcoming election.

There haven't been this many initiatives on the ballot since measures were first put before the public in 1914, according to Reed.

Voters will make major decision on the role of government this November through initiatives that both try to reduce and increase the influence of Olympia. Reed says it will take some time for voters to study and review the issues on the ballot.

There are many elected positions that will be closely watched this year, Reed adds. He points to the race for U.S. Senate, currently held by Patty Murray, which could determine what party gets control of that house of congress next year. The deadline to register is Monday, Oct. 4th.
