WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Walla Walla Police are investigating a hit and run accident involving a middle school student that happened Friday morning. But police say the victim didn't even report the accident until later in the afternoon.

The student from Pioneer Middle School says she was knocked to the ground by a dark SUV at the intersection of Pleasant and Wilbur Streets while riding her bike to school. The victim told police that she was able to get up and walk her damaged bicycle to school.

She didn't report the incident until later in the school day. Pioneer Middle School Principal immediately notified the Walla Walla Police Department once she heard about it.

Walla Walla Police continue to investigate the accident. The superintendent says this is a reminder for drivers to watch out and slow down when driving in school zones.
