Police in the Tri Cities are investigating more boat motor thefts
PASCO, Wash. -- Pasco Police are trying to figure out who's stealing boat motors in West Pasco the last couple of weeks.
This is a growing trend, and not only in Pasco.
23 boat motors have been stolen throughout the Tri Cities since the beginning of the year, but some of the latest thefts have taken place in the 10,000 block of West Court Street.
Both smaller and larger outboard boat motors ranging from 9.9 to 50 horsepower have been taken right off the back of the boats.
Most of the boats targeted were sitting in drive-ways or are visible from the street and were hit in the early morning hours.
The thieves are cutting cables, locks and tethering devices to remove the motors.
Police encourage you to park your boat in well-lit areas and secure the motors. They also want you to watch for suspicious vehicles or trucks during the early morning hours cruising through neighborhoods.
