KENNEWICK, Wash. - People come from all over the Northwest to enjoy the Annual Hop Ale festival and local breweries are enjoying quite a rise in popularity.
It also helps that much of the grain and hops used for beer around the Northwest are grown here locally. In fact, the hops alone bring in people from all over the country.
Beer maker, David Acton, of Atomic Brewery says our beer here is a favorite for many because it's more of a European style.
"There's a lot more passion into it. It's not necessarily Americanized micro brewers but more of a European style micro brew. We tend to focus on more full flavor, full body. It's not about crisp high octane, which is what you'll find a lot in the back east areas," said Acton.
Each of the three Tri-City breweries say they continue to stay busy. In fact, starting next month Ice Harbor Brewery will expand to Spokane and Walla Walla, while Rattlesnake Mountain Brewery will continue to sell their product at the Toyota Center events and various beer gardens.
