RICHLAND, Wash. -- The Richland Library is offering readers a chance to read a bestseller, discuss it with fellow readers and even meet the author.
Jamie Ford is the author of "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet," a novel set in Seattle.
Ford was in Richland Thursday night as part of the library's "Richland Reads" program.
He says he enjoys being a part of a program that encourages discussion among readers and allows them to ask him about the elements that went into the book and writing in general. "To be able to do anything to help that along and be part of that journey is just kind of pure joy for me. As an author it's the best of everything," said Jamie Ford.
During October, the library and Friends of the Richland Public Library will sponsor discussions about the book and show movies on related topics.
Program coordinator Connie Farr says "the Community Read program promotes the values of reading, encourages dialogue about a particular book and fosters lifelong learning and the development of a strong community identity."
