KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Tri-Cities Cancer Center kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a complimentary and educational breakfast Friday morning.
The breakfast included salmon with pink hollandaise sauce and bagels with pink cream cheese. Before the breakfast they turned on 1,000 pink LED lights that will line the outside of the building for the entire month of October.
Organizers say the free breakfast had a hidden agenda. "For some people, this could be there first time in the building. That's a scary thing for some people. So once they come here, see we're having fun, it's not such a scary place...maybe when they need us they will come back," explained Community Educator, Cindy Miller.
After breakfast, visitors were able to tour the center and learn about all its resources like free exams, spa treatments and support groups.
