This past Saturday Central Washington saw years of success disappear with a heartbreaking 25-24 loss to Humboldt State on the road. The Wildcats are 3-3 on the year.
That loss in all likelihood knocking the Wildcats out of the Top 25 for the first time since 2007. Central's six year conference winning streak also ending in the one point defeat.
These streaks still should exist if not for a fourth quarter collapse, which coach and players alike stress will not happen again.
Head coach Blaine Bennett said, "Well we really need to clean up some of the mistakes we made. We had an eight point lead with seven or eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter... and we let the game slip away. All in all what we want to do is fix some of the mistakes we made... Clean the game up a little bit... And do a better job of finishing a game when we're in a position to win it."
Wide Receiver Christopher Smith added, "We're going to finish regardless of whether we win or lose the football game. We're going to finish as a team... We're going to play hard... Finish through. Obviously Saturday was a tough loss 25-24... We just got to move to the next game which is Southern Oregon."
