PASCO, Wash. -- A Pasco woman accused of plotting to kill her husband has pleaded guilty to reduced charges.
Sheriff's deputies arrested Michelle Murdock in July. Prosecutors say the family nanny tipped off John Murdock his wife was plotting his murder by giving him tranquilizers.
Tuesday John Murdock told the judge he now believes the nanny masterminded the plot, and says he no longer fears his wife.
Murdock entered an Alford plea to conspiracy to obtain controlled drugs.
Defense attorney Sal Mendoza says this is a case of a problem in a marriage getting out of control. "Sometimes we say things we don't mean. Sometimes we say things that are taken out of context, and that's exactly what happened here."
Murdock brought a suitcase with her to court, prepared to return to jail, but the judge agreed to a sentence of time-served, and ordered Murdock to pay about two-thousand dollars in fines and court costs.
Mendoza says the couple is working to save their marriage.
