PASCO; Wash.-- Blocks are a staple of any daycare or kindergarten, its no secret young children love to play with them.
But after they've had their fun and knock those blocks down, the building blocks of education stay.
The Mid-Columbia Libraries system is hosting Block Fest, to show parents how block play can help children build a foundation for math, science and literacy.
"Its just fun for them they don't realize they're learning anything, and its important for parent education that their kids can learn a lot of concepts from block play," says Children's Librarian Sarah Johnson.
The next event will be in Richland from 10:00 to 3:30 on Saturday, and in Kennewick on the 12th.
