Neighbors report of fly outbreak

Posted: Updated:

WEST RICHLAND, Wash. --  There have been reports throughout the area that people are seeing an outbreak of flies. Several people have said the problem started in the last couple of days.  One family said it became so bad, that at night their garage door is covered with the flies.

The health department and experts who sell products to combat flies say while these outbreaks are not necessarily new, there are a number of reasons for the outbreaks. "You've got people who have farms, you've got people who have animals and livestock.  It Could be the actual people that are around fruit, trees, all kinds of things attract them, " says Ranch and Home store associate, CeCe Randazzo.

Retailers such as Ranch and Home and others offer several options people can take to keep their home fly free such as sticky paper or sprays. Many of the people who have expressed concern over the flies believe the recent warm weather may be a factor and hope the cooler temperatures will bring a end to their fly problems.
