Education Professions attend Teen Domestic Violence Workshop
PASCO, Wash.-- Education professionals gathered at a workshop this morning to learn more about teenage domestic violence.
The workshop focuses on violence teens could experience when dating as well as in the home. Erinn Gailey with Domestic Violence Services of Benton and Franklin Counties said Thursday's workshop was aimed at creating awareness of a growing problem among young people.
"Today we're just trying to get the message out that it's happening, it's happening in our neighborhoods, it's happening in our schools and there are things we can do as community members and as educational professionals to reach out to them," said Gailey.
Some of the tips learned today included ways to incorporate teen domestic violence into curriculums at schools, and learning about the options available to handle it.
