Supporters of mural in downtown Walla Walla speak out
WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Walla Walla City Council members are getting an idea of how the public feels about a big mural above a downtown toy store.
It's a mural of a giant purple octopus above the Inland Octopus Toy Store which city leaders say violates the city's sign code.
While the city has gotten some complaints about the sign, Monday, city hall was packed with people supporting it. "If he paints anything on there, that can be conceived as a toy, then you're going to say it's a sign that promotes his business. Well, he does need to promote his business. That's why that's up there," said one supporter.
"I also have not gotten any negative response on the Inland Octopus, so leave the man alone," said another supporter.
It's now up to city council members to consider Monday's testimony and other elements and later decide whether the mural should stay, or go.
