YAKIMA, Wash. -- Three locations in Yakima County will host free HIV testing Friday in honor of National Latino AIDS Awareness Day.
The event is sponsored by Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho.
Testing will be offered at the following locations/times:
* Yakima Valley Community College, located at 1015 S. 16th Ave in Yakima - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
* Planned Parenthood, located at 2934 Covey Lane in Sunnyside - 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
* Radio KDNA Community Center, located at 121 Sunnyside Ave. in Granger - 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
"Offering free HIV Testing in these three locations is just one way we show our commitment to helping all people lead healthy, responsible lives," said Anna Franks, President and CEO of PPGWNI.
According to 2007 figures from the Centers of Disease Control & Prevention, Hispanics/Latinos accounted for 18% of new HIV/AIDS cases and made up 19% of all people in the United States currently living with AIDS.
